Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for March 21st, 2024. Itā€™s Thursday today, and that means a lot of new games are out on the eShop. That being said, the concentration of Bin Bunch games is high today and the decent titles donā€™t do as much to offset it as I would like. Well, I suppose some weeks are like that. Tomorrow will be better, but we have to deal with today first. After summarizing all that is worth summarizing, we head into the new and expiring sales of the day. A little more action there, at least. Letā€™s get to the games!

New Releases

Scott Whiskers in: the Search for Mr. Fumbleclaw ($14.99)

scottwhiskersinthesearchformrfumbleclaw.jpg

A point-and-click style adventure game where youā€™re searching for a cat to enter a feline beauty contest. It has an interesting look due to using 3D characters on hand-drawn backgrounds, and its suggested twelve-hour run-time makes it a rather substantial adventure all things considered. Games of this sort are kind of nice to hunker down with on the Switch in handheld mode, and Iā€™m looking forward to giving this one more of my time when I get a chance.

Bad Chicken ($19.99)

badchicken.jpg

A side-scrolling shoot-em-up starring a chicken who likes to make silly jokes and references. It features eight levels, a bunch of weapons and vehicles, and some extremely resilient enemies. I feel like the attempts at humor are almost as exhausting as a shooter where you even the popcorn enemies can shrug off a lot of your shots, but some of you are going to love this game Iā€™m sure. The vibrant visuals are certainly nice to look at, and the gameplay seems quite responsive.

Attack of the Karens ($4.99)

attackofthekarens.jpg

Iā€™m not really into meme games, but people who like them might want to look into this new shoot-em-up. You pilot the Manager X-15 and go to battle with evil cyborg Karens to save your city fromā€¦ sigh, ā€œentitlement". I donā€™t know. Itā€™s one of those ones where you have to die a million times to slowly upgrade your ship to the point that you actually have a decent chance of winning, grinding out currency morsel by morsel. Iā€™m sure itā€™s fine if youā€™re into the theme.

Sushi Battle Rambunctiously ($19.99)

sushibattlerambunctiously.jpg

Somehow, we have two sushi-themed games today. Theyā€™re quite different from each other, though. This one is a party battler for up to four players via local multiplayer where you control weird little creatures and try to throw junk at each other. The last one standing wins, but even the ones that have been knocked out can still mess with the remaining players. Thereā€™s a single-player mode where you battle against waves of zombie creatures, but this is first and foremost a multiplayer game. Seems like decent chaotic fun, but I imagine most of us have plenty of games by now to suit such needs.

Sushi Shot Online ($1.80)

sushishotonline.jpg

I feel like Iā€™ve seen this one before, but whatever. This is basically Suika Game, but with sushi instead of fruit and a flipped playfield. The ā€˜Onlineā€™ bit in the title refers to the game having online leaderboards and an online multiplayer mode for up to four players. I suppose if you like matching fruits, youā€™d probably get at least two bucksā€™ worth of fun out of matching sushi? Your call.

Arcade Archives Surprise Attack ($7.99)

arcadearchivessurpriseattack.jpg

Did you know Konami made a Rolling Thunder/Shinobi-style game in 1990? I sure didnā€™t. This is one of the fun things about Arcade Archives. A lot of these games got home ports, but some of them stayed in the arcades and have been largely forgotten. I donā€™t know if Surprise Attack is great or anything, but it sure looks nice and Iā€™m always up to play through something like this. Maybe you are too. If so, join me on the olā€™ leaderboards and weā€™ll see what we can do.

Krimson ($9.99)

krimson.jpg

A precision platformer with a rhythm component and some wild heavy metal inspired visuals and audio. Itā€™s pretty hard on my eyes, but maybe youā€™ll do better with it. If nothing else, it stands out from the pack in terms of presentation. Itā€™s a tough game too, so your fingers will be getting just as much of a workout as your senses. Not for me, but I know it will be up someoneā€™s alley.

Stunt Paradise ($7.99)

stuntparadise.jpg

Again, benefit of the doubt for a new publisher. This seems to be a pretty straightforward take on the Trials concept, except instead of bikes you have twenty different cars to drive. There are fifty levels to play in total. Fanciness is kept to a minimum.

Sector 98 ($0.99)

sector98.jpg

An extremely affordable platformer where you play as a little robot who has to destroy some bad robots. There are twenty-five levels in total, which works out to four cents per level. If all you have is a buck, I could imagine worse gaming fates than this.

The Bin Bunch

Aprilā€™s Diary ($14.99)

Mortal Fight: Lethal Revenge ($9.99)

Pull The Pin: Ball Physic Puzzle ($4.99)

Western Frontier ($2.23)

Aha! Letā€™s Photo Hunt! ($3.99)

Paper Dash ā€“ City Hustle ($9.99)

Air Traffic Sim: Airport Dispatcher Simulator ($4.99)

Hentai Girls Panic ($5.99)

Sales

(North American eShop, US Prices)

I donā€™t have anything in particular to call out from the new sales, but there are some decent titles in there if youā€™re looking for some. The outbox is about the same, really. Neither list is ridiculously small or big, and there arenā€™t any mega-deals in either of them. Still, you might find something to pick up if you give them a scan. Go with your heart.

You can look forward to summaries of the new games, plus whatever sales and big news items roll in over the course of the day. Itā€™s a little busier than usual today in my other job, so Iā€™ll run back over to that now. I hope you all have a thrilling Thursday, and as always, thanks for reading!
