Much of the success of TikTok can be owed to the same reason for the success of many other platforms: it's a great place to tell stories. From the guy who converted his basement into an aquarium for eels to Reesa Teesa's Who TF Did I Marry series, the place is not short on weird and (not so) wonderful narratives that keep us scrolling even when we have promised ourselves that we will stop after the next video.
At the same time, not every tale we come across is some long-winded saga. Sometimes they are short, pithy, and perfect for screenshotting and putting on display here. Did Hemingway not teach us that we can say thousands of words in comparatively few? That seems to be the logic behind the content of many TikTokers, anyway. We've got to be glad of it because it provides us with all of this easily digestible entertainment.
